In the Netherlands, a serological survey was carried out comparing 50 cats from households with more than 3 cats (Bergman et al 1997). Twenty five cats had a history of respiratory disease and of these 52% were seropositive for B. bronchiseptica. A further 25 cats had no history of respiratory disease and of these 20% were seropositive. Although the number of animals was small, the difference between the 2 groups was statistically different:
