Feline Bordetellosis Research Overview
As the awareness of disease caused by B.bronchiseptica in cats grows so does the amount of research being undertaken into this problem. Although it is clear that Bordetella bronchiseptica can act as a primary respiratory pathogen in cats and is found throughout the feline population much still remains unknown. In particular:

  • The way in which B. bronchiseptica interacts with other respiratory pathogens such as FHV and FCV
  • The relative importance of the different feline respiratory pathogens under different circumstances
  • The factors involved in causing disease

At present one group of veterinarians and scientists involved in a large scale pan-European study aimed at investigating the answers to some of these questions.
